R.1155 Receiver and T.1154 Transmitter These units were primarily designed for aircraft, although they were also used in Air sea Rescue Launches, Radio Vehicles and Ground Facilities during WWII.
This particular radio set was from a Lancaster Bomber. Aircrew who operated the R.1155 and T.1154 combination while being thrown about in their confined space while the pilot tried to avoid enemy fighters, must at times shake their heads in wonderment at the tiny (by comparison) transceivers used in modern aircraft today ! Donated by Trevor Dean and Flt. Lt. Brian Roberts, Commander of No. 481 Squadron, Air Training Corps, Birmingham UK. |
