Remembering a War Hero

Colonel Robert Morgan, pilot of the famous

B-17 Bomber Memphis Belle passed away on

the 15th of May, 2004.  A B-17 and a B52

flew overhead in tribute at the funeral.

As noted in my own tribute to Colonel Morgan, he was a

remarkable pilot, revered by his B-17 and B-29 crews,

and is honoured to this day by the US Air Force.

In 1999 Colonel Morgan was given command of both

a B-52 and B-1 Bomber aircraft, a rare honour indeed.

He is sadly missed by wife Linda, their children and

certainly not least of all by myself -

I also called Bob Morgan a friend.
